Natural Gas futures closed flat in the domestic market on Thursday as investors and speculators stayed cautious over booking fresh positions in the energy commodity as latest weather forecasts showed mild temperatures across central and eastern US from January 13 through January 22, limiting heating demand for the fuel in the world’s biggest fuel consumer.
Gas supplies fell 131 billion cubic feet last week, compared to a drop of 26 billion in the prior week.
At the MCX, Natural Gas futures for January 2015 contract closed at Rs 184 per 1 kg, unchanged after opening at Rs 182.2, against the previous closing price of Rs 184. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 185.2 till the closing.
